STUDENT
ONLINE JOINS THE
TLT GROUPS FOUNDING SPONSOR PROGRAM
Alliance
Will Help Guide Institutions Toward Technology Solutions
New
York, NY January24, 2000 -- StudentOnline.com, Inc.,
a higher education intranet portal company, and The TLT Group,
the non-profit, teaching, learning and technology affiliate
of the American Association for Higher Education, today announced
they will work together to help colleges and universities
identify ways of integrating technology with teaching and
learning. As a member of The TLT Groups Founding Sponsor
Program, Student Online will work with The TLT Group to better
inform collegiate administrators about technology-related
options in higher education.
"We
are pleased about the opportunity to work with Student Online,"
said Steven W. Gilbert, President of The TLT Group. "Through
experiences I have had at a variety of institutions across
the country, I see a growing interest in products and services,
like those offered by Student Online, that attempt to match
the institutional needs, faculty goals, and the student expectations.
We look forward to a successful relationship."
"There
are so many colleges and universities that are ready to supplement
the learning process through technology, but are unsure about
what products to use or even how to filter through all the
technology companies," said Sunil Deshmukh, CEO of Student
Online. "The TLT Group relationship affords an excellent
opportunity to connect with the administrators and decision
makers at these universities, and permits Student Online to
better identify and understand a schools technological needs.
Together we can help them make the most effective educational
use of these products."
Through
regular offerings of events and
online activities conducted throughout the year, The TLT Group
will bring groups of educators together, where representatives
from Student Online will also have the opportunities to learn
and contribute. By analyzing technological needs versus money,
time and staff constraints, Student Online and The TLT Group
will be able to suggest cost-effective and time-sensitive
methods that will enable each institution to better plan for
faculty and student use of technology.
About
the TLT Group
The
TLT Group, the non-profit teaching, learning, and technology
affiliate of The American Association for Higher Education,
motivates and enables institutions and individuals to improve
teaching and learning with technology, while helping them
cope with continual change. The TLT Groups Teaching, Learning
and Technology Roundtable (TLTR) Program, now in its sixth
year, has helped more than 500 colleges and universities re-focus
key resources and relevant services for the common goal of
improving education through more effective uses of technologies.
TLT Roundtables convene those who can and should work together
at an institution to reduce the widening gap between what
faculty and students expect from technology and what support
service professionals can help them achieve. TLT Roundtables
deal with technologys toughest questions and provide thoughtful
advice to institutional leaders. In addition, some 200 institutions
use the services and materials of the TLT Groups Flashlight
Program to develop and implement studies of the educational
impact of technology. The AAHESGIT Listserv, moderated by
The TLT Group president Steven W. Gilbert, now reaches more
than 6,000+ subscribers with daily messages about current
issues in technology and education. Detailed information about
other TLT Group core programs is available at www.tltgroup.org.
