NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 10, 2000

Donald Feinberg Led Team That Developed CD-ROM and First
Practical Print Server

New CTO, Project Manager for New York City Network's Successful
Y2K Remediation, To Oversee Intranet Portal's Development

StudentOnline.com announced today the appointment of Donald Feinberg, developer of the CD-ROM and former project manager of the New York City Network's successful Y2K remediation efforts, as chief technology officer for the intranet portal company. In his new position, Feinberg will oversee the building of Student Online.com's infrastructure and will be involved in overall product development.

Over his 30-year career, Feinberg has been responsible for a wide range of high-profile projects. Just recently, he was project manager for the Y2K remediation of New York City's Data Network and Internet and Intranet servers, helping the nation's largest city make a smooth transition to the Year 2000. He also performed a complete redesign of the second largest private telecommunications network in the world. In addition, over the last three years, Feinberg has redesigned and implemented e-commerce Web portals for several public and private clients.

Led Development of CD-ROM and First Print Server

From 1976 to 1996, Feinberg was at Digital Equipment Corporation as a Software Engineering Manager where he led the teams that developed the CD-ROM and the first practical print-server. He also independently proposed and participated in the implementation of Digital's business development strategy for Eastern Europe which helped the company capitalize on that emerging market.

Before joining Digital in 1976, Feinberg held systems programming positions with a number of companies including Spacetac, Inc., which, in 1972, launched the first microprocessor into space, and Sanders Associates, a firm that was later acquired by aerospace giant Lockheed Martin.

"We're thrilled to have someone of Don's obvious talent and expertise join our development team," said StudentOnline CEO, Sunil Deshmukh. "His creativity in systems design and his experience in resolving huge undertakings such as the New York City Network's Y2K remediation will be important assets to StudentOnline. He will be key to the company's ability to anticipate and meet the technology needs of the higher education market."
