Burlington
County College (NJ) Implements Student Online’s Intranet Portal
Partnership Enables Student Online To Optimize
Intra-Campus Communication at BCC
New
York, NY - May 31, 2000 – Student Online, Inc., the premier higher
education intranet portal company, announced today that Burlington County
College, with campuses in Pemberton and Mt. Laurel, NJ, has employed
Student Online’s intranet portal platform.
Already
running on a limited basis, Burlington is scheduled to complete full-scale
implementation of Student Online prior to the start of the 2000-2001
academic year, allowing its nearly 10,000 full and part-time students,
faculty, and staff to have instant Web-based and wireless access to
course, event, and activity information tailored to their specific
interests. By forging this relationship, Student Online will help BCC
facilitate enhanced communication with and amongst its students.
"We
are pleased that Burlington has clearly recognized the utility, potential,
and promise of our product,” said Sunil Deshmukh, CEO of Student Online.
“Today’s higher education IT administrators are forced to juggle both
staffing and financial demands. Student Online’s portal is designed to
help institutions like Burlington streamline campus information systems,
thereby reducing costs and the need for additional personnel.”
“As
an innovative institution of higher education, Burlington County College
is an ideal partner for this pioneering effort with Student Online,”
said BCC President Robert C. Messina, Jr. “We are a leader in the use of
instructional technology, distance learning, and partnerships with the
business community. Our collaborative efforts with Student Online should
greatly benefit our students.”
Student
Online’s Intranet portals are the optimal way for institutions of higher
education to communicate with their students, faculty, and administration.
By aggregating information within a campus to make it more accessible,
Student Online enhances intra-campus communication by using portal
features such as automated organizers, web-based email, calendaring, and
content feeds, to optimize intra-campus communication. Further,
Student Online preserves the academic integrity of each of its partner
institutions by forbidding banner advertising on its portals. By
working hand-in-hand with each institution, Student Online emphasizes the
value of partnership.
