Student Online Offers Schools IT Grant Opportunity; Grants Range From $150,000 to $500,000 for Two- and Four-Year Schools

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 7, 2000--StudentOnline.com, Inc., a higher education intranet portal company, has recently announced the availability of its Information Technology Grant Program. Designed to underwrite all external costs associated with implementing Student Online Version 1.0, a revenue generating intranet portal system, the grant offer to institutions of higher education includes all hardware, software, and systems integration costs needed for its installation and operation. Student Online Version 1.0 facilitates academic and social communications while creating a growing revenue stream for partner institutions, all in an advertising free environment.

"Our IT Grant Program is an excellent opportunity for administrators of

colleges and universities across the country to satisfy their institution's particular technological needs virtually risk free," said Sunil Deshmukh, CEO of Student Online. "Designed for both two- and four-year institutions, our grant committee will consider those colleges that have a strong desire to be technologically innovative. It's a good way for Student Online to help level the playing field between those institutions that are at a financial disadvantage and those larger establishments without such budget-related constraints."

Depending on the size of the institution, the Student Online Information Technology Grant will range from $150,000 to $500,000 for those interested in using technology to better facilitate the on-campus learning experience. Recipients will receive financial and consulting assistance in integrating protocols for online and distance education, administrative computing, e-commerce capabilities, intercampus communication, and much more.

Student Online will select grant recipients based on leadership in IT

initiatives, distance learning capabilities, strength in academic alliances, existing e-business experience, and compatibility with Student Online's technological goals. Grant applications are due April 30, 2000 and upon review, 10 recipients will be announced in mid-May. Beginning in September, two schools per month will have the product implemented so that all 10 selected will be operating with Student Online by January 2001. Applications are available at www.studentonline.com.
