Sunil Deshmukh, CEO
Mr. Deshmukh is the CEO of Student Online, a position he has held since August 1999. Deshmukh is a respected businessman with extensive experience both on and off Wall Street.

Before joining Student Online, he worked as the president of Prize Petroleum, set up the commodities trading division at Citibank, held the position of head commodities trader at Louis Dreyfus, Inc., and worked as a senior proprietary commodities trader in Goldman Sachs’ Proprietary Commodities Division.

With experience in a wide array of business and non-profit efforts, including many Internet start-ups, Deshmukh is an experienced guiding force behind both Student Online’s business development and creative teams.

Deshmukh received his Bachelor’s Degree in chemical engineering from Bombay University , his MS in chemical engineering from Cleveland State , his MBA from Indiana University , and his JD from Loyola University of Chicago.

Donald Feinberg, CTO

Mr. Feinberg is the Chief Technology Officer of Student Online. His primary responsibilities include directing the fundamental product design while planning for the development and integration of new products into the Student Online suite.

His involvement in the invention of the CD-ROM and Print Server highlights Feinberg's prestigious technology career. Responsible for the planning, mastering, and production of a true technological first, the direct digital CD-ROM, and for the co-invention of ECCs that devise new methods of achieving archival data reliability, Feinberg's inventive mind is complemented by his polished professional career. During his 20-year responsibility at Digital Equipment Corporation, Feinberg independently proposed and implemented Digital's business development strategy in Eastern Europe where he helped position the company for fast-track financial performance in the emerging European market. Further, Feinberg recently managed the Y2K remediation of New York City 's Data Network and Internet and Intranet servers, redesigned and implemented e-commerce Web portals, and performed the complete redesign of the world's second-largest private telecommunications network for a United States government client.

Feinberg, fluent in both French and Hebrew, received his BS in Physics from Michigan State University and his MS in Physics from Cleveland State University .

Edward Youngberg,
VP of Business Development
Edward Youngberg is the VP of Business Development at Student Online. In addition to aiding in the design of the general strategic vision of Student Online, Mr. Youngberg specializes in directing Student Online's wireless relationships.

Mr. Youngberg has an extensive career working with technology companies, developing business strategies and managing multi-million dollar projects. Mr. Youngberg has founded two systems integration firms, Legacy Solutions, Inc. and Tranquility Systems, Inc. (IBM Software Development Partner and Microsoft Solution Provider). He has over 30 years in the systems and telecommunications industry as a developer, network designer, Project Manager, Department Director,and Systems Vice President with Fortune 100 firms like the Prudential and RJR Nabisco.

Mr. Youngberg has a B.S. in Business Administration and MBA in Management and Finance from
St. Joseph 's University in Philadelphia , PA. He is also a former adjunct Professor of Computer Science with the College of New Jersey (formerly Trenton State College).

Farimah Schuerman, Director of Corporate Development
Mrs. Schuerman is the Director of Corporate Development for Student Online.

Mrs. Schuerman is well known in the Educational Technology community for her experience and ability in strategic planning, sales and marketing for both K-12 and Higher Education markets over the past 10 years.

In her most recent position as Executive Marketing Manager at Pearson Education, Mrs. Schuerman launched two online efforts for the Higher Education Group. Simon & Schuster's College NewsLink was a joint venture with the New York Times; Pearson Distributed Learning is the distance learning start-up for the largest education publisher in the world. As a key participant in the planning and execution of these early, revenue generating online services, Ms. Schuerman headed the marketing team that put Pearson solidly in the forefront of online education. Her role in managing strategic industry relationships facilitated the opportunity to master this marketplace.

Prior to her tenure with Pearson, Ms. Schuerman was the Director of Sales and Marketing at CEL Communications, an innovative publisher of interactive multimedia products and television production company. Ultimately reporting to the Chairman of the Board of Directors, she specialized in the sales and marketing of CEL's highly acclaimed, video-based titles which sold at price points ranging from $11,000 to $85,000. In this capacity she developed relationships at many of the most technologically advanced school districts and campuses in the
United States . Demand for CEL's unique product line resulted in strategic relationships with IBM, Apple Computer, Pioneer New Media and others, to mutual benefit.

Mrs. Schuerman is an active participant in organizations that advocate technology in higher education such as the Teaching and Learning with Technology Group.


David Shapiro, VP of Sales
Mr. Shapiro is the VP Sales for Student Online.

With over 17 years of higher education experience, Mr. Shapiro is greatly experienced in hiring, training, and managing a national sales force. Mr. Shapiro has worked with McGraw Hill, Addison-Wesley, and other publishing firms with their technology products. Most recently, Mr. Shapiro was the VP Sales for Campus Cruiser, where he launched the sales and marketing efforts for the company.

Kevin Cohen, Director of Sales
Mr. Cohen is the Director of Sales for Student Online.

Having practiced law at Lehman Brothers and KPMG Peat Marwick’s Information, Communications & Entertainment Practice, he has assisted in the development of numerous New Media clients. Cohen brings seasoned corporate experience to Student Online.

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania , where he received his BA in Economics, and of Yeshiva University , where he received his JD, his considerable entrepreneurial and interpersonal skills make him a valued addition to the Student Online team.

Sachin Chaudhry, Principal

Mr. Chaudhry is a Principal and Co-Founder at Student Online. Since August 1998, Chaudhry has been responsible for directing the business development activities of Student Online and focusing on financing strategies.

At Merrill Lynch’s Technology Investment Banking division, Chaudhry researched acquisition strategies and developed valuation models for both private and public technology companies, including e-commerce retailers, and Internet portals.

He graduated from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania with a BS in economics with concentrations in Finance and Strategic Management.

Gaurav Chowdhary, Principal

Mr. Chowdhary is a Principal and Co-Founder of Student Online. Since May 1998, Chowdhary's has directed the product design while planning for the development and integration of new products on the Student Online suite. Prior to making a full-time commitment to Student Online, Chowdhary played an active role in fundraising efforts for non-profit organizations such as Tibet House. 

He served as president of Zamana where he personally organized high-profile symposiums featuring topics as diverse as Buddhism discussions with Deepak Chopra and Robert Thurman, and discussions about South Asian Nuclear Politics with Indian and Pakistani ambassadors. 

Mr. Chowdhary graduated from Columbia University with a BA in Computer Science, as an Alfred Ogden Scholar and a King's Crown Gold Leader.

ADVISORS

David R. Serra, Esquire
Mr. Serra holds a Doctor of Law degree, as well as a Bachelor of Science (Professional) in Urban and Regional Planning. He has provided legal counsel to individuals and organizations for the past decade, has led a national health and education non-profit organization as a senior-level administrator and faculty member at Dartmouth College , and has edited or authored various organizational journals and monographs.

While at Dartmouth , Mr. Serra was Executive Director of the C. Everett Koop Institute, and Managing Director and General Counsel of the Koop Foundation. In addition to occupying a national stage with the President and First Lady on healthcare reform, and with the Vice President helping to ensure passage of the Landmark Telecommunications Act of 1996, these organizations were at the forefront of the technology transfer revolution in academia. During Mr. Serra’s tenure, the Koop organizations received over $30M from the National Institute for Standards and Technology to create standards for the medical and education segments of the emerging National Information Infrastructure, as well as over $20M in additional grants and gifts which were used to seed technology-based commercial enterprises in the education field.
